Having transmission related issues (trouble shifting gears) Was told by a mechanic in DSM that the torque converter needed replaced, and to do so, he would need to drop the transmission, etc. and quoted me approximately $3500. Went to Al's for a second opinion. And so glad I did!!! 1) Al's took me seriously and didn't treat me like I was just some stupid chick 2) Al's inspected my truck, performed tests, etc. and diagnosed the issue 3) Al's told me they could perform the suggested transmission work (approximately $2300), but didn't feel that was the problem and instead told me I needed my Tacoma reprogrammed by a Toyota dealership. 4) Al's diagnosis was SPOT ON. 5) To ensure I would be taken seriously at the dealership, Al's provided a very detailed diagnosis on their invoice for me to provide to the dealership. Total cost of reprogramming: $239! Moral of the story/review -INTEGRITY- if you are looking for an honest mechanic shop, who doesn't try to overcharge for unnecessary repairs, clearly knows what they're doing and really cares about its customers - GO TO AL'S TRANSMISSION SERVICE
